So You Think You Can Dance
You know, I’m kind of glad Will got kicked off last night. Not because I have anything against him; in fact he’s undoubtedly the best dancer on the show. But because his ousting is a big fuck you to Nigel, who could not be more transparent in his bias. Week after week he tries to […]

The Dark Knight
Well, that was disappointing. I actually wasn’t expecting much because superhero movies always tend to be high on action and thin on plot and if there’s no story then I’m not interested. But Batman Begins was actually pretty good, you know, with all the Christian Baleyness and everything. But the Dark Knight just kind of […]

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before but I’m consistenly annoyed with movies that rely on style over substance. Hellboy II is extremely stylish, presenting a troll/faery world that is a feast for the eyes and impressive creature design displayed with good quality CGI. So You Think You Can Dance
Interesting that Joshua was my early favourite and yet I feel somehow disappointed by his win. I guess because it was so predictable. But he always seemed like a genuinely good guy and he obviously loves to dance so yay for him. It’s nice to see a hip-hop dancer win even though I call bullshit […]

It would be good as a CSI ep, but an X-Files ep? Not so much. There’s hardly anything supernatural going on and while […]

Persepolis
This movie came out last year but I finally saw it just now. Do yourself a favour and rent it or download it if you haven’t already seen it. The intertron tells me that the source material – the graphic novel is sooo much better and I should probably read it to confirm that but […]

Son of Rambow
A cute little British movie where British schoolboys are cute and do amusing things. I laughed throughout and encouraged the main character to run as far away as he could from his loving family. Bonus points for some inventive cartoon integration and for being set in the early ’80s. 4 niqueheads [rating:40]

Supernatural
My love for Supernatural is well documented in Paradise Syndrome, where my alter ego deems it to be the best show evah. In truth I can objectively say it is not the best show on TV. Sometimes I find myself irritated with the writing and the whole mytharc and sometimes I feel a certain amount […]
