You know, I’m kind of glad Will got kicked off last night.  Not because I have anything against him; in fact he’s undoubtedly the best dancer on the show.  But because his ousting is a big fuck you to Nigel, who could not be more transparent in his bias.  Week after week he tries to manipulate “America” into voting for Will and not voting for Mark.  I don’t have any particular feelings for Mark except that he’s the underdog so that makes me root for him.  Or it would if I wasn’t so firmly entrenched in the Joshua camp… although my love for him fades as the show goes on.  (This season is probably the most boring yet.)

Of course Nigel is a judge and producer of the show so if he wants to attempt to influence the audience that’s his business but I just find it icky how mean he is to some of the dancers and how much he fawns over others.  Mary is no better.  They practically start drooling no matter what Will does and practically puke over Comfort and Mark week after week.  I’m glad Comfort is gone now (for good this time?) because she will no longer have to endure the torture of the judges’ critiques. 

I mean, it would be fine if the judges were right but I actually think their feelings for the dancers is affecting their judgement.  On wednesday night they bashed Comfort and Mark way more than they deserved for their ballroom whatever number and were way too soft on Joshua and Chelsie, who did a painful disco routine. 

At the end of the day this is a reality show so it IS a popularity contest.  That’s why I’m fine with someone who isn’t necessarily the best dancer winning.  If it was really about the best dancer it wouldn’t be televised or open to votes.  Will is going to enjoy an illustrious dance career because he is an amazing dancer.  He doesn’t actually need this show, so I don’t feel bad for him. 

If I voted for these things I’d vote for Katee because she is the ultimate underdog turned front-runner.  Remember back at the top 20 announcements when they almost didn’t let her in because she dared to answer a question honestly?  Assholes.
