Fantasia 2009 ends

Category: Fantasia,Reviews

Whew!  Finally over.  And I am so done.  Those seats in the Hall theatre are  torture!  I really don’t know how I keep doing this each year.  Then again I know some people who go to 30+ movies a year.  One dude goes to every movie possible, as in every movie that doesn’t conflict with another movie playing in a different theatre.  Now that’s dedication!

Anyway I thought I’d rank the films I’ve seen from worst to best so you’ll know what to bother downloading.  Here goes:

Yesterday

Mutants

Genius Party Beyond

Sans Desseins

Cyborg She

Yatterman

Cryptic

Best Worst Movie

Infestation

My Dear Enemy

Canary

Edison and Leo

Tokyo OnlyPic 2008

The Children

Instant Swamp

Antique

Fine, Totally Fine

Love Exposure

Genius Party Beyond

Meh.  I wasn’t feeling it this year.  You can only catch lightning in a bottle once I suppose.

This Korean film is deliciously gorgeous.  It’s about a group of men who run a cake shop and the eye candy on display is a sight to behold and leaves the mouth watering.  Even someone like me, who isn’t a big fan of rich sweets felt tempted to taste… although I was maybe a bit more tempted by the pretty men than the pretty food.

Oh yeah, the story?  Also good.  Cool to see a gay Asian film… although it’s not really a gay story, but the homosexuality of one of the characters does figure prominently.

Very enjoyable, amusing, sweet and fun with a few frenetic dance/fantasy scenes and some nice “scary” scenes as well.
